The sight and sound of bees drifting from flower to flower is a quintessential part of a summer’s day. Sadly, bees are very susceptible to a variety of diseases and environmental changes, and recently colonies have been dying out at an alarming rate.
When you consider that over a third of the crops we eat are pollinated by bees, and that they make an annual contribution to our economy of £165 million, Ted knew he had to help the plight of the bumblebee.
By installing 2 beehives on our roof, we hope to give the bee population chance to recuperate, whilst giving wildlife a boost as our bees pollinate local plants.
Our Buckfast bees arrived from a farm in Shropshire a few weeks ago and they immediately settled into their new abode. Our beekeeper comes in once a week to check they’re healthy, happy and of course to collect the honey that’s going down a treat at Tedquarters.

Here at Ted Baker, we know it’s important to try and save energy. However it’s easy to forget how small things like turning off your monitor at night make a big difference. So we thought a little encouragement wouldn’t go amiss.
We formed a group of green guerrilla activists, who secretly visited the Ted Baker offices out of hours. We went around every desk and rewarded everyone who had turned off their computer monitor with a chocolate. [Read more…]

Today marks the start of Green Office Week. This nationwide campaign, sponsored by Avery, was launched in response to an independent poll which suggests three out of four office workers leave their green efforts at home. What’s worse, almost two thirds of staff ignore their work’s environmental initiatives. [Read more…]
We all make New Year’s resolutions, from a ban on alcohol, to a no-chocolate diet. This year, at Ted Baker, we’re pledging to do something a bit more worthwhile. We’re all pledging to work a bit more greenly for want of a better term.
A summary of our more day-to-day pledges are below. They’re not rocket science, but if you fancy joining us, vote below. Alternatively, let us know what you’ve got planned for your resolutions.
