The World Cup is almost upon us, and to say we’re rather excited is a bit of an understatement. Our special World Cup themed window, lamenting the usual bad refereeing decisions that can decide the fate of the tournament, goes in this week.
Plus if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got a stylish football related collection of t-shirts, pants and socks that’ll ensure you’re over-the-moon guv. Not to mention an array of limited edition giveaways. So you’ve no reason not to pop into your local store. Especially since we’ll be offering drinks in-store on any day England on playing.
Giveaway wise, there are World Cup condoms emblazoned with the immortal line, ‘Lie back and think of England’. (Don’t worry if your loyalties lie outside of these shores, there are some ‘Keepy-Uppy’ condoms too.)
Then we have our doubled-sided red and yellow cards. Pop them in your pocket and you’ll be able to diffuse any situation; from an office squabble to someone trying to channel surf during a big match – perish the thought!
Finally, there are ‘Spot the Ball’ pens, featuring the classic scene of a streaker being chased by the long arm of the law. Ah the golden era of football… Remember ’66?
Come on England! And come on down to your favourite Ted Baker.

Saturday saw Team Bath’s last Blue Square Conference South match after a ten year period described by manager, Ged Roddy, as ‘an incredible journey’. The match against Bishop’s Stortford looked like it might end on a winning note, but a goal in stoppage time made it a 2-2 draw. [Read more…]

TeamBath’s play-off hopes were dented with a 2-1 defeat at Havant & Waterlooville last night. Sami El-Abd went from hero to villain in the space of nine minutes as he pulled down Ian Simpemba with the score at 1-1. [Read more…]
Another fantastic result for TeamBath this weekend. The boys managed a 4-1 win over Dorchester thanks to a hat-trick by Josh Llewellyn. They’ve even managed to leapfrog their landlord’s Bath City in the Blue Square South Division table. [Read more…]

Not many people know about the strong relationship Ted Baker has with Team Bath, Bath University’s semi-professional football team. We’ve been a supporter of the University for many years, and currently sponsor the team in the Conference South division.
With this in mind, we’ll be bringing you regular updates on their progress during the season. The side have had a disappointing run of five home defeats, losing 2-0 against Hampton & Richmond last weekend. Let’s hope they do better in their match against Welling United tomorrow. Good luck boys.
The online betting company, Betfair, has found an interesting way of advertising its football prediction game, Taikai. They created a goal celebration dance and sent every premier league footballer instructions on how to ‘Do the Taikai’.
Any footballer who performs the dance during a match will receive £10,000 from Betfair for a charity of their choice. Thus creating the first ever in-game advert. Rumours have circulated stating that clubs will fine any players that take part, for conflicting other advertisers’ messages. Now everyone is waiting to see who will be brave, or stupid, enough to go through with it.
Great idea or greed gone too far? Do you think PR, advertising and the money in football have changed the sport too much? Or it’s all just a bit of fun? Take a look at the Taikai video and tell us what you think.
