Take On Ted

At last, the moment of reckoning is upon us – today’s the day for our bloggers to Take On Ted.

The world’s first Twitter operated styling studio, brought to you by Ted Baker, will be going live at 14:00 EDT in the States and 18:00 GMT here in the UK, with our magnificent seven – top US fashion bloggers ready and waiting to pull the strings using a live video stream, Twitter and nothing more:

2pm / 6pm: stylemom.com

2.20pm / 6.20pm: saucyglossie.com

2.40pm / 6.40pm: thinkthrufashion.com

3.00pm / 7.00pm: galadarling.com

3.20pm / 7.20pm: fashionchalet.net

3.40pm / 7.40pm: wheredidugetthat.com

4.00pm / 8.00pm: thefrisky.com

Each blogger will have just 15 minutes to put their fashion know-how to the test by styling exclusive Ted Baker looks, via twitter.

Here in London, we’ll have hair stylists, make-up artists, runners, models (girls and boys) and 450 items of Ted Baker clothing from the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection – all at their disposal.

If you’re not already, do please follow Ted on Twitter now – that’s @ted_baker – so that you can see and take part in the action, as it happens and if you follow our bloggers as well, you’ll be able to offer them your own thoughts and ideas, too.

And don’t forget, we want everyone to get involved, so if you’ve got a styling suggestion, please tweet Ted with the hashtag takeonted – the best ideas will be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Good luck to everyone who’s taken up the challenge to Take On Ted!

Take On Ted Update

3 November, 2010 ·

As the big day approaches, and with lots of lovely people now talking about what we’re up to this Friday, we thought it best to let you know where the digital styling action will take place and, of course, who’s taking part.

First of all, do make sure you’re following Ted on Twitter – this way, you’ll be able to keep up to date with all the build up and, of course, during the event itself. This is important for many reasons, not least because you’ll be in with a chance to take part and tweet your own styling suggestions.

Next, feel free to poke around on the special Take On Ted microsite that we’ve set up, where you’ll be able to get an overview of what this is all about and why Ted is doing it in the first place.

Last but by no means least, we’ve rejigged the line-up for Take On Ted. Of course, with this being something of a world-first initiative, we’re learning as we go along so it’s difficult to lock down the final guest list. But as it stands, the following top-notch US fashion bloggers are ready and willing to bring something fresh and original to styling Ted’s A/W10 collection – via tweet and nothing but the tweet:

We’re all set to have a bit of a dry run dress rehearsal here at Tedquarters this afternoon, so as while we’re busy prepping the studio for fireworks on Friday, here’s to all of the above. We absolutely cannot wait to see how you take on Ted!

In the wide wide world of fashion bloggers, it’s been a tricky task to nail the invitation process for Take On Ted. We had a long list of names, for sure, but we didn’t want to send out invites to hundreds of bloggers. We wanted to make this is as personal as possible because, as far as we see it, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between some truly unique voices in the blogosphere and this ‘no ordinary designer label’.

In the end, we’ve chosen bloggers who don’t necessarily reflect Ted’s style and taste. In fact, we’ve chosen bloggers who have their own original style and who are in the business of making fashion accessible to all… And, of course, who are also able to bring something fresh and original to styling Ted’s A/W10 collection.

We love Fashion Chalet‘s chic styling and sheer variety, how Fashion Snag uses photography to let the fashion do the talking, and Fashion Squad’s quirky style and tone of voice – all right up Ted’s street.

The influential Gala Darling is no stranger to the fashion blogosphere (or to collaborating with brands on creative projects), and Think Thru Fashion is no stranger to taking fashion from the catwalk to the streets, where it belongs. Dream Sequins covers an eclectic mix of interesting fashion profiles and opinions, and Karen Blanchard’s wheredidugetthat reminds Ted of when he first moved to NY, seeking out the people and places to fall in love with.

Both different but both fabulous, calivintage (love her way of looking back as well as forward) and Fashion Bomb (sassy urban fashion) get a big thumbs up from Ted. Last but not least, we love the distinctive voices and styles of both StyleMom and nitro:licious – different styles of blogs that stand out from the crowd.

Now all that’s left is to get things prepped and ready for this Friday, to see how everyone rises to the challenge… and, of course, to get properly excited!

Addendum (4 Nov): The guest list for Take On Ted has been pretty fluid. Some have come into the frame, others have dropped out. Ted’s final guest list will be published on Friday 5 November.

Introducing Take On Ted

29 October, 2010 ·

Now Ted’s always on the lookout for new ways to innovate and entertain, so he’s pleased to announce the launch of ‘Take On Ted’ – the world’s-first, remote-controlled, digitally powered live styling project.

Set to take place next Friday 5 November 2010 from 18.00 GMT at tedbaker.com, Take On Ted is a creative collaboration between Ted and a selection of America’s top fashion bloggers who will use Twitter, a live video stream and their vision, creativity, originality.

Each blogger will take the reigns of Ted’s London studio (including models, stylists, hair and make-up artists and photographers) and use items from the A/W10 collection.

Ted’s given each blogger a specific British-themed brief from which the challenge is to style two unique looks within a 15-minute time frame, with access to nearly 600 items of clothing from the Ted Baker collection online.

On completion of each shoot, Ted will showcase the professionally shot looks and making-of videos with the world on tedbaker.com, Facebook, on fashion blogs and across its US stores.

We’ll have more info on who’s taking part on Monday but, for now, make sure you’re following @ted_baker on Twitter or, if you haven’t already, make friends with Ted on Facebook to follow the action (and maybe even to take part)…
