In celebration of the Chelsea Flower Show, Ted’s Kings Road store is in a floral frenzy.

As part of the Duke of York Square’s  ‘Chelsea In Bloom’ – which sees Chelsea retailers compete for best window display – Ted has developed a bespoke window for the occasion with an oriental twist.

Inspired by this year’s Oriental Chic theme, Ted’s creative team hand made origami flowers before photographing each one from a number of different angles. These were then arranged into a stunning oriental blossom tree incorporating prints from our latest spring summer collections.

Hail & Ride

17 May, 2011 ·

This weekend Ted’s Regent Street store celebrated the unveiling of it’s RIBA designed window. Passers by were invited into store by Ted’s Bus Conductor where they had the chance to rummage in the lucky dip suitcase as well as enter an exclusive competition with the London Transport Museum to win two season tickets for the museum, and a moquette cube using their own choice of real London Transport Bus or Tube upholstery.

Sunday saw a fantastic performance by Ted’s BUSker, soulful violinist Marques Toliver, who performed to a growing crowd of shoppers eager to have a dip in Ted’s suitcase!

The Great Escape came to a spectacular conclusion on Saturday with exciting performances from Malpas, Dry the River, Antlers, Okkervil River, Yuck, The Vaccines and Sufjan Stevens to name but a few.

Dressed Ted to toe, Alana Stewart gave the lucky crowd gathered at Ted’s Brighton store an intimate performance. A million miles from her New York subway busking days, she delighted the audience with soon-to-be hits from EP ‘The Misuse of Chemistry’.

Over on the Ted and hmv’s Next Big Thing stage, Malpas got the venue rocking with a synth spectacular worthy of Depeche Mode. Dry the River’s blend of Americana rock followed, performing favourites such as ‘Bible Belt’ and ‘New Ceremony’ which brought the crowd to the brink of lighter waving end to the set.

Indie rockers, The Antlers, came on next and were reminiscent of Arcade Fire with their melancholy anthems. While Okkervil River proved a worthy final act as they tore up the Ted & hmv stage – metaphorically! They played songs from new album ‘I Am Very Far’, before the Vice team took over with a selection of bands and DJs that had the crowd dancing into the small hours.

Ted’s festival highlights include Saturday’s headliner Sufjan Stevens, who packed out the Dome and played an almighty set to his fans. The Guillemots were on fine form as they delivered a street gig next to the Ted photobooth in the festival hub. The Vaccines sent the Corn Exchange into a frenzy with songs from their new album, ‘What Did You Expect from the Vaccines’. And to top it all, the sun was shining for the entire weekend!

The Vaccines

Lucky delegate pass winner, Josh Renault, had an amazing time discovering new favourites Lanterns on the Lake, The Staves, Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou, while renewing his love for James VMcM and the Guillemots.

Ted’s photobooth definitely saw the most action over the weekend, with hundreds of festival goers passing through to get a memento of the weekend. See if you can spot yourself in any of the photos http://on.fb.me/iwDfXZ.

Make sure you check out Ted’s Facebook and Twitter pages for more information and pictures from the weekend and visit Ted’s YouTube Channel for gig footage and the chance to see the fantastic animation that got all of the Concorde2 talking!
