Raise the bard

30 April, 2010 ·

supermarket Shakespeare

A Saturday in the supermarket can be pretty stressful. Well how about some Shakespeare while you shop?

Teatro Vivo are a creative collective that are taking theatre out of the theatre, and bringing some unique interpretations of the classics to the masses – in our local supermarkets no less.

Inspired by Sonnet 23, they’re hoping to bring us a bit of the bard while we’re buying our basics. Check their website or facebook for where and when, then just show up to one of the South London supermarkets and see the action in the aisles.

Pleat your heart out

They say good things come in small packages and this mini skirt is definitely a good thing, perfect for spring summer. Even better news, it’s available in 2 great colours.

The Sean identity

28 April, 2010 ·

Last week, our ecommerce intern Sean, represented Ted Baker at an Affiliate event with a new partner of ours, LinkShare. Here you can see him manning our stand and chatting away to anyone and everyone about Ted Baker. He definitely looked the part, managing to be dressed ted-to-toe in our latest menswear.

Affiliate Event

Sean has been with us in ecommerce for 9 months where aside from winning every Tedquarters competition going, from go-karting god to cocktail making champ, he has been working hard on managing our affiliate program.

Sean says, ‘As an intern I have had some great experience and exposure to online retail, I have been given excellent opportunities to go to events and conferences, as well as being strongly involved in internal projects’.

Lampost men's t-shirt

The humble polo shirt gets refreshed with our great new style, Lampost. With its micro check design and sleek button down collar, you’re sure to look dapper whatever the weather.

It comes in red, blue and black, so you’ll be really spoilt for choice. Whichever you go for though, try it with our Jeano chinos. Roll the trousers up a bit for that nautical touch to your usual weekend wardrobe, and finish off the look with our on trend boat shoes, Avenay. All you’ll need then is the yacht….

Tucked away in a small street in the heart of London’s East End, there’s an oasis of foliage and flowers. Every Sunday from 8am till about 3pm, you’ll discover the Columbia Road flower market.

Columbia Road Flower Market

The air is rich with the scent of flowers, the banter from traders and the wonder of punters who stroll around the stalls and nip in and out of the antique shops, tea rooms and art galleries. All of whom believe this to be their own secret little haven.

Okay so it’s not so secret these days, and this Sunday will be just as busy as last weekend and the weekends to come. It is however a lovely bit of London and you don’t have to be a garden centre geek to enjoy it. We’re using plenty of floral prints in our womens dresses, tops and accessories this season too, so you might just spot where we’ve got our inspiration from.

Grayded Men's T-shirt

Getting your hands on some new tops and t-shirts is an easy way to update your wardrobe for summer, and Grayded allows you to do just that.

It’s a polo neck t-shirt that features an eye-catching gradient style print with a bit of striped detailing on the collar and cuffs for good measure. It comes in orange, green and blue, so there’s something for every gent. With great colours like these, there’s no chance of fading into the background.

With the weather getting warmer, slowly but surely, how about teaming your new polo with a pair of denim shorts like Devito, and some classic leather sandals like Awan, for easy summer style.

Always endeavouring to keep you up-to-date with the latest happenings at Ted Baker; last week we were first to tell you about Heart Shaped Things.

A folksy double act made up of Vicki from our Bath store, and her mate Emily-Jane. The girls were on hand last week to serenade our customers in a couple of initimate gigs held in our Bath and Bristol stores.

Our shop windows were transformed into their main stage and they certainly caught the attention of a few passers. Plenty of window shoppers were drawn inside, where they were treated to some great live music and delicious cupcakes whilst they shopped our latest collections. Did any of you catch either of the gigs? What did you all think?
