Stocking fillers’ are said to originate from an old story featuring St Nicholas. The story goes that three sisters, who were left desolate by their spendthrift father, left their socks to dry overnight by the fireplace.
The legend goes that St Nicholas rode by their home and seeing the stockings, threw gold coins down their chimney – the very first stocking fillers.
