Every year at Congham’s Cricket Field, Norfolk, competitors slug it out at the World Snail Racing Championships. This Saturday, up to 300 snails will enter the race – 13 inches of tough terrain – in the hope of winning the title of ‘Fastest Snail in the World’ and a silver tankard stuffed with lettuce.
The championships are held as part of the Congham Fete, which raises funds for the town’s 13th-century St Andrews Church. You can enter your own pet snail, or simply go along to watch all the fun.
If you manage to get any snaps of the photo-finish, be sure to send them on to us.
