Every summer, the town of Knaresborough hosts the ‘Knaresborough Bed Race’. On the 13th June, around 86 teams, both locals and visitors, will decorate beds for a traditional parade before stripping them of their decorations and pushing them through the town in a race.
The climax of the race comes when the teams of 7 (6 runners, 1 seated) must cross the River Nidd and climb a steep muddy bank to reach the finish line, which has been known to cause a few calamities.
If you’re after an unusual day out this weekend, you can attend the event as a spectator – be sure to send us any photos of the race and tell us how it went.
