The villages of Hallaton and Medbourne in Leicestershire play host to the annual tradition of Bottle Kicking every Easter. The event attracts thousands of spectators and is a chaotic battle between residents of both the villages, in a tug-of-war style competition.
A bottle is placed between two streams that are roughly a mile apart. Teams from the two villages wrestle with bottle to try and drag it back to their stream. The event has very little rules and often attracts quite a few injuries. We’d rather be indoors eating chocolate eggs, but maybe that’s just us.
