Sign up to switch off

27 March, 2009 ·

This weekend, the World Wildlife Fund is encouraging everyone to take part in Earth Hour. They want a billion people worldwide to switch off their lights for one hour on Saturday at 8.30pm.

Over 500 global landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower to the Sydney Opera House, have already agreed to join in, so it should be quite a sight. This inspiring event kick starts WWF’s Global Deal campaign which aims to convince world leaders to agree effective action on climate change.

If enough people sign up to Earth Hour, they hope governments will recognise that the public care about climate change and want urgent action. It’s quick and easy to sign up – make your pledge to join in at http://earthhour.wwf.org.uk/how_you_can_help/signup/
